Frequently Asked Questions

Do You Accept Insurance?

Weller Counseling is not a provider with any health insurance companies. We can, however, provide you with a superbill receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement. Please know that not all insurance plans offer reimbursement for out-of-network providers, and some plans may have a deductible or an allowable amount. I recommend calling the customer service number on the back of your card to speak to a representative for details about your specific plan.

What forms of payment are accepted?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and HSA credit cards. For in-person services, we also accept cash and checks.

Are you seeing clients in person or via telehealth?

Telehealth and in-person sessions are available.

What are your policies related to illness?

I follow current CDC recommendations related to communicable illnesses. If you are not feeling well or have concerns about potential exposure to viruses, I would request that you reschedule your in-person session or move it to telehealth. I will do the same. I am happy to answer any questions you have about ways to stay safe during our sessions together, and am always open to reasonable accommodations that will help you feel safe with regard to your health and well-being.

What happens during our first session?

During the first session, we will go over the paperwork you filled out, and discuss any questions you have for me. I will have questions for you, too! We will talk about what you’re hoping to gain from therapy, and ways to help you meet your goals.

Is it normal to feel nervous about starting therapy?

Absolutely! People often get nervous when they think about meeting with a therapist. It’s not easy to talk about struggles and uncomfortable feelings, and it’s even harder to talk about them with a stranger. Be assured that your therapist’s primary concern is to create a safe environment, so that you can explore your experiences and feelings freely, without fear of judgment.

How do I tell if you're the right therapist for me?

That is a great question! Having a connected relationship with your therapist is incredibly important, and my goal is make sure you sync up with someone who feels like a good fit. During our free phone consultation, you will probably have a gut feeling about how well we would work together. I encourage you to trust your gut! I also invite you to ask me any questions that will help you make an informed decision about your therapy experience.
